Frequently Asked Questions
How old are the students that you work with?
Assessments are available for children ages 3-21. When working with parents who are interested in guidance or in learning parenting skills, there are no age restrictions; I am happy to provide support to parents with children of all ages. Coaching typically works best for middle school through college age students, but some younger children do benefit from a one time session to get them started and help them better understand their personal learning styles.
What are your prices?
Parenting and Coaching are 250 dollars per session, which are typically 50 minutes.
Assessment can be done hourly or as a comprehensive package (for a complete neurodevelopmental assessment which consists of 6 hours of testing).
If prices are hourly, the costs (as of January 2025) are: Intake ($325), Testing ($450 per hour if less than 4 hours are needed), Feedback ($375). The comprehensive testing package is $3400 for all components. Not all assessments require a full comprehensive assessment, particularly for children under the age of six or those interested in a screening for cognitive ability and/or academic skill development.
Assessment prices include testing, scoring, and report writing in the fee.
Do you accept insurance?
I am out of network with all insurance companies. I will provide you with a superbill and the necessary diagnostic codes (if applicable) for you to submit to your insurance. It is your responsibility to determine if pre-authorization is needed prior to beginning. I will complete necessary pre-authorization forms if they are submitted at least two weeks prior to our first assessment appointment. Please be aware that insurance reimbursement varies greatly and that by engaging my services you are paying “out-of-pocket” and are not assured of any reimbursement from your individual insurance policy.
Will you provide a Good Faith Estimate?
Yes, as required by the No Surprises Act, and in accordance with the law, a Good Faith Estimate will be included in your client portal before you engage my services.
How long does the assessment process take?
Timing depends on how we space out testing appointments. Usually, if we meet once a week over a three week time period, and all questionnaire forms are returned in a timely manner, I am able to schedule our feedback session within 2-3 weeks of our last testing session. A complete evaluation typically takes place within a timeframe of 6 weeks from start to finish.
How do I prepare my child before the assessment?
I suggest telling your child that they are going to meet with someone like a teacher, who will do different activities with them to help understand how they learn. Explain to your child that the goal of the assessment is to figure out how they learn best, so that school can become a better experience for them. For adolescents, I suggest telling them that this sort of testing will help everyone understand how they learn and how to best meet their needs, now and into college.
Do you offer teletherapy services?
Teletherapy is available for parenting, coaching, intake and feedback sessions. Assessments are best done face-to-face, unless there are extraordinary circumstances that would prevent such interactions.
